Story Time: Over in the Meadow

Over in the Meadow, illustrated by Ezra Jack Keats, has been in our personal library for a few years now. It's always been a favorite with its sing-song words and beautiful images. Each page is a work of art that gently captures the beauty of the different meadow creatures.

Over in the Meadow has been our inspiration this week as we focus on ponds, specifically frogs and turtles. We've been enjoying a bit of lazy time while we study these. September is creeping closer and summer feels like it's winding down. Instead of speeding up and racing to the finish line, we've been slowing down and trying to savor every last bit of summer that we can.

The pond theme has been perfect as it tends to bring to mind those lazy summer days. It also tends to draw us outside and sends us wandering. We've been hiking, searching our garden, reading books outside and just being. They'll be time later for more focused learning, but until then, it's still summer.

How are you enjoying the end of summer?
