A Love of Books

How do you promote a love of books with your kids?

Give me your best advice in the comments. I'll compile them and share your advice in an upcoming post about encouraging a love of books. (If you have your own blog, leave me the link so I can include it as well.)

  1. My children are 9 and 11 and are both able readers, but we still enjoy reading a good book out loud together. We tend to read more of the older 'classics' this way, which they might not be so enthusiastic about tackling on their own.

  2. We love books, I think the fact that I have always read to my kids and in front of my kids helps a lot. We visit the library every other week, enjoy quiet reading time everyday, and I have always made it a part of our evening to read to my kids before bed. Books are amazing :)

  3. Visits to the library always keep things fresh. We borrow at least 20 books each week and the kids enjoy reading new ones each day. The best part of all is that it's free! Vicky from www.messforless.net

  4. We read (obvious) and go to the library where he can pick out "new" books. He also sees me reading a lot (which really helps). Plus, we very special books - books that were my dad's when he was a little boy. We make reading them a very special experience. Oh and we sometimes create an entire library at home! http://jennifischer.blogspot.com/2012/04/making-something-out-of-nothing-2.html
